Meet our 2026 Children’s Miracle Network Champion
Seeley has a smile that will melt your heart. The lovable and lively 4-year-old is proof that miracles do happen.
Two and a half weeks after she was born on Kaua‘i, Seeley developed a fever. Her parents, Hayley and Shawn, took her to Wilcox Medical Center. Tests revealed her white blood cell count was so elevated, she had to be medevacked to Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children.
Dr. Wade Kyono, Kapi‘olani pediatric hematologist and oncologist, delivered the diagnosis: Seeley had acute myeloid leukemia, a rare and aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Although she was barely 3 weeks old, Dr. Kyono told her parents he could tell Seeley was a fighter.
At the time, she was one of the youngest patients ever to be diagnosed and treated at Kapi‘olani for cancer. Seeley received two rounds of chemotherapy in three months. Kapi‘olani even arranged a transport to the mainland for a bone marrow transplant. The treatments were complex and rigorous. There were many scares and setbacks. But through it all, she persevered.
Today, Seeley is cancer-free and in remission. She continues to get checkups at Kapi‘olani every few months and sees many of the familiar faces who’ve helped her through her toughest days. When Seeley is back home on Kaua‘i, she enjoys seeing her friends at school, going to the beach and playing with her cats, Claws and Lady Macaroni. Now Seeley, with her beaming smile, is ready to share her miraculous story as Hawai‘i’s 2026 Children’s Miracle Network Champion
